Sandra Hernandez, Principal

Sandra Hernandez
sanhernandez@dallasisd.org

Sandra Hernandez has been dedicated to serving the Dallas ISD community since 2010, working as a teacher, campus instructional coach, and instructional lead coach. She has proudly lead and served the Oak Cliff Community, continuing her commitment to student success and community growth.

Following her role as an instructional lead coach, she assumed the role of principal at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary, where she successfully led the campus. Under her leadership, the school implemented data-driven instructional practices, strengthened campus culture, and expanded family and community engagement to promote academic excellence.

Mrs. Hernandez holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences from the University of North Texas at Denton and Master of Educational Leadership for the University of North Texas at Dallas. She is currently a doctoral candidate at East Texas A&M Commerce.

A lifelong resident of Dallas and a proud product of Dallas ISD, Mrs. Hernandez is a first-generation college graduate who remains deeply committed to giving back to the neighborhoods that shaped her. As an educational leader, she is passionate about ensuring all students have access to rigorous, high-quality learning experiences within a safe and supportive school environment.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Hernandez has demonstrated a strong commitment to student achievement through the implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies and systems of support for both students and staff. She believes that school transformation begins with building authentic relationships, cultivating a collaborative culture, and maintaining high expectations for all learners.

As a servant leader, Mrs. Hernandez is committed to developing lifelong learners and empowering every child to reach their full potential. She is guided by Nelson Mandela’s words: “Education is the most powerful tool you can use to change the world.” A lesson her father once shared with her, and one she continues to carry with pride, is that education is a gift no one can take away.

Mrs. Hernandez is excited to serve as the principal of Raul Quintanilla Sr. Middle School STEAM Academy. She looks forward to building strong relationships with students, families, and staff while continuing to foster a culture of high expectations, academic excellence, and community pride. With deep roots in the area and a passion for empowering young learners, she is committed to leading Quintanilla toward a future filled with opportunity and success.
